Choosing an industrial plastic piping material is really a trade-off between chemical resistance, temperature rating, purity requirements and cost. Huasheng Pipeline manufactures pipes, fittings and valves in six materials. This guide walks through them from general-purpose to ultra-pure, so you can match the material to the actual duty, not just the price.
General water supply and standard chemical service: UPVC
UPVC (unplasticized PVC) is the most economical starting point, available in DN20-800mm sizes at PN0.5-2.0MPa pressure ratings, compliant with GB/T4219.1 (China) and ASTM D1785/D2467 (US), with a design life tested up to 50 years. It is roughly 20% lighter and carries about 30% more flow than cast iron pipe of the same diameter. It suits ambient-temperature water supply and general acid/alkali media, but its temperature ceiling is lower than CPVC.
UPVC (Unplasticized PVC) →Hot, corrosive media: CPVC
CPVC is UPVC resin upgraded through chlorination, giving it clearly better heat resistance, a high oxygen index for flame resistance, and compliance with GB/T18998.2 (China) and ASTM F441/F439 (US). It is compatible with UPVC fitting systems for mixed installation. When operating temperature exceeds what UPVC can handle but the chemical resistance of PPH or PVDF is not required, CPVC is usually the right upgrade.
CPVC (Chlorinated PVC) →Strong acids/alkalis and food-grade fluids: PPH
PPH (polypropylene homopolymer) is low-density and lightweight, with butt-fusion welded joints that are stronger than the base material itself. It is virtually unaffected by most inorganic acids and bases, making it well suited to long-distance transport of strong acids, alkalis and corrosive wastewater — and it is sanitary-grade, so it also works for food-grade fluids. When a project needs both strong chemical resistance and lighter transport/installation, PPH is usually more cost-effective than PVDF.
PPH (Polypropylene Homopolymer) →Broad chemical resistance and entry-level semiconductor use: PVDF
PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) is the value option within the fluoropolymer family: it resists strong oxidizing acids and halogen-based media, performs well across a wide temperature range, and resists UV and radiation aging with low extractables. When PPH’s chemical resistance is not enough, but a project does not yet need PFA-level cleanroom purity, PVDF is a common step up for semiconductor and fine chemical applications.
PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) →Ultra-pure delivery for panel and PV lines: PVDF-UHP
PVDF-UHP is extruded in class 10,000 (ISO14644-1 Class 7) cleanrooms and cleaned/packed in class 100 (Class 5) cleanrooms by Huasheng’s HPRAY division, using imported high-purity raw materials with extremely low extractable ion and organic content — at a capacity of 2,500 tons of pipe and over 50,000 valve sets per year. When a project has an explicit cleanroom-grade manufacturing requirement, as is common on flat-panel display and photovoltaic lines, PVDF-UHP is the step up from standard PVDF.
PVDF-UHP (Ultra High Purity PVDF) →The ceiling for semiconductor wet processes: PFA
PFA is made from electronic-grade raw material meeting the SEMI F57 ion-extraction standard, with an inner surface roughness as low as Rt=0.2μm. It resists virtually every chemical, can be used long-term at up to 260°C, and its high transparency lets you visually monitor flow status. It is the highest-performing — and highest-cost — material in the fluoropolymer range, generally reserved for semiconductor wet processes and ultra-pure water systems where both purity and temperature requirements are at their peak.
